DAY 19: June 20th

Jaymee and Ann Marie play in the pairs knockout today at Mudgeeraba Bowls Club situated in the Gold Coast Hinterland 25 minutes north of our house. All of the Angry Beavers are there to cheer them on.

Their opponents were from the Australian Defence Force which is made up of military personnel from the Army, Navy and Air Force who compete in different sports.

The game started with the Beavers getting 2 points then it went back and forth with scoring so after 5 ends being 4-3, after 10 ends 10-8 and after 15 ends 15-11 in our favour.

The game length is 18 ends which is three too many. Score was 15-14 Beavers going into the last end with hammer. Ann Marie was a bit too excited that the win was in their grasp and came up short with her bowls. The final score was 16-15 for Defence. Playing in this knockout round was a bonus to Jaymee’s Open goals.

We took advantage of all the Beavers being in one spot at the same time to take a few team pictures.

Drove over to Burleigh Heads to catch some of the knockouts there. We had lunch at the beach watching the surfers. There were Sea-doo drivers assisting the surfers by transporting them out to the waves and picking them up if they happened to topple over.

After looking through the boutique shops we headed home. Jaymee, Nathaniel and Alex took the boards to the beach while Shauna and I each went for a nap.

With this sinus cold I haven’t been able to eat too much so I decided to have my favourite chocolate chip muffins and a cup of tea. Got kettle ready to go, fixed up the muffins and I waited and waited for the kettle to click off. Well, it was never going to boil because even though I clicked the kettle button I forgot about the outlet switch. No Aussie has been able to tell us definitively why there are switches on the outlets (if anyone knows please tell me when we next meet).

Played 3 games of cribbage with Bill and Keith, just like in bowling I didn’t win a game – time for bed .
