A murder of crows (yes, the collective noun for crows is “murder”) descended on our greens today.

Hundreds of them were “coring” (excuse the pun) on the green, stabbing for grubs below the surface, and more were spectating from the surrounding high wires.  Maybe the greens coring machine has broken and the Municipality has substituted cheap labour?

Another rumour is that they have been engaged by the club Executive to keep the raccoons away. Unfortunately, both creatures dig into our turf; all you can say in defence of the crows is that they do a little less damage than the raccoons.
