Short mat bowling update

To All Members

As most of our club members are aware, when outdoor bowling at the club is finished, short mat bowling begins.

Until renovations in Anderson House are finished, we will have just one mat that we can use in Carnarvon House. The primary issue is that we have to be respectful of the social groups using Carnarvon during this period of time.

The current plan is to roll out the mat after Canasta on Monday afternoon and remove the mat prior to Darts on Wednesday afternoon. This will allow us to schedule two-hourly usage slots between these social events. These slots will be bookable from the website calendar using the RSVP booking system. This would allow up to six players to play at a time.

The booking system is likely to come into play after the Thanksgiving Weekend, on Tuesday 9th October. Watch your website calendar for these booking slots to appear.

Since mat access during this time will be limited, we would request that members book no more than two usages per week, unless you are making up numbers for a full six-player slate of players.

We are also looking into the possibility of a drop-in social bowl on Friday nights, October 12th and 26th, with the bar available. More details to follow.

When Anderson House becomes available in November, we will return to Open Draw social play with up to 12 players booked per time slot. We will also schedule the usual drop-in sessions, and club and inter-club tournaments. At this point it is unlikely that league play will be available until the New Year.

We will keep everybody up to date with short mat events as the construction schedule unfolds.
