“To Do List Perils”
Covid 19 and isolation has led me to attack my “To Do List” items I’d promised I would get to once I had some extra time – never thought I’d have this much extra time.
The “to do” item I have successful avoided for over a year was four 8-foot fence posts in urgent need of replacing. Had I ever installed a fence post in my life – no. Being the chair of our website committee I immediately googled directions on how to do this. Once I read the material and watched the video I knew that it would be a piece of cake – I knew I would be a master fence post installer. I listed the supplies I would need and headed to Home Depot in Victoria to purchase them. After waiting an eternity to get into the store I ended up leaving with a box of screws and a new watering hose spray gun. Just my luck that Home Depot was sold out of all the materials I needed for the fence. I left the store mad that I couldn’t get the material and happy that I could continue to put off the project.
I got home and came up with a great idea – I’d shop on-line!! Now Susi does this on a regular basis and never had a problem so I thought what the heck, I’ll give it a try. So I log on to the Vic West Rona website and order all of the materials I needed. I double checked my order, paid the bill with my MasterCard and got a message back saying that my order had been accepted and I would be contacted when my order was ready. I was quite pleased with myself for accomplishing this task and printed off the information. Later I was reading the material and to my horror I said “What have I done now”– the curbside pick-up location was not at the Vic West Store but a Rona store in Quebec.
So Susi and I are currently driving ………. No I was able to cancel the order but after all of this I’ll have to start the next Website meeting with “Hi, I’m Brent and I’m an on-line ordering luddite”. There is a part two to this story involving dirt, a jackhammer, cuts, gravel and it’s not a country and western tune. I’ve taken too much of your time with this story so I’ll let others provide their Covid 19 isolation stories. Cheers and I hope we will get out to the greens soon.
