Hello All,

I would like to update you all on your Executive’s actions after our teleconference last night and the next steps ahead for us regarding Club activities. The following actions will occur as result of the COVID-19 pandemic in our community:

·         Both clubhouses will be closed for all indoor activities until further notice. We do not want people going into the building unless there is an exceptional reason for doing so. There will be some folks going into the building to do work inside but this will be limited by the Executive members.

·         We will have some of our club members check on the security of the clubhouse on a regular schedule.

·         The SAGM slated for April 5 is cancelled. Since there were no motions scheduled for this meeting, the impact of this action should be minimal. In the meantime, all of the reports will be online soon.

·         The work party for April 8 will still occur with members maintaining social distancing as much as possible.

·         The Executive will meet again (teleconference) on April 5 to re-evaluate both the Open House scheduled for April 19, and Opening Day (May 2).

·         Once the greens are ready, we will evaluate outdoor bowling activities (based on the best information at the time).

Membership renewals

We are in the midst of membership renewals and we have had some technical issues with the link I sent out. The link (on the quick links portion of the web page) will still allow you to do an online registration but won’t have the pre-populated fields filled in. Please feel free to use this link. I will continue to work on the technical issue and send out a new link once it is working. For those who have filled in the form from the website , there will be no need to use the new emailed link.

Finally, as we are in uncharted waters for the club, I would like to stress how important the membership dues are to the future of the club. We have continuing major expenses regarding the greens maintenance and building utilities and our membership dues are our lifeblood for the continued operation of the club. I encourage all our loyal members to renew and send your dues into the club as soon as you can. Find below our payment options:

3. Cheque put in sealed envelope (make out to Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club); Attn: Treasurer placed in club’s outside white mailbox on Anderson House
