Lake Hill Short Mat Tournament 2016

The Oak Bay Bowling club was well represented at the Lake Hill Short Mat Tournament played last weekend, February 26,27, 28.

We had three teams in the tournament:

Harnam Grewal, Joan Firkins and Andrew Harley
Linda Cowie, Jim Brown and Kay Alexander
Brent Jansen, John Cossom and Karen Evans

All teams were up for the challenge of the Lake Hill mats which does give a certain advantage to the home teams. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three 8 end matches in a knockout format. Unfortunately all teams lost their opening matches but bounced back in the following games but there was no holding back Brent’s team who were on fire! Unfortunately  both Linda and Harnam’s teams had to play Brent’s team. There was no holding him (and his team) back……we were victimized by not having back bowls. The Lake Hill  jacks were a much lighter weight than we were used to and Brent took full advantage by moving the jack around.
Brent and team went on to win 5 matches on the Sunday and take the short mat title. Well done Brent, Oak Bay is proud of you and your team.
