Our first club tournament of 2022, the Miller Cup, took place Monday May 23, Victoria Day,

Forty-two players was not a bad turnout for a tournament while COVID is still lingering, so we had 14 teams to do battle over three 10-end rounds.

Steve Dix’s team was the only team that won all three of its games and so was the clear winner. Second place went to the Andrew Harley team who managed two wins — and a tie, when Andrew’s final bowl wicked in against the odds to take the 10th end and tie the second game.

Four teams had two wins and one loss. Since “28 shots for and 16 shots against” beats “31 shots for and 18 against.” (You don’t subtract them; you divide them), Rod Armitage’s team won third prize with Karen Evans’ team winning the fourth and final envelope.

Readers might consider this article, published June 8, as history rather than news. (Your reporter has only just recovered from a protracted sulk after being originally declared to be in the money on tournament day, then subsequently demoted when the scores were added up properly 🙁 . He kept his 50/50 raffle winnings, though. 🙂 )
