Over the weekend of July 11-12 the Burnside Lawn Bowling Club hosted the Ashford Mixed Triples BSI tournament. In this triples format, each team had to be skipped by a woman, inducing many nerves from this novice skip! It was a beautiful weekend filled with great weather and great bowling! Oak Bay was well-represented with the teams of Mary Forster, John Mayston-Taylor and Kory Swain and of Jean Morrison, Brent Merchant and Doug Francis. Brent Jansen played alongside Steve and Jill Foster from Gordon Head and Sandi Hodel played with some teammates from the Victoria Lawn Bowling Club.

3 games were held on day 1 and two on day 2 and in the end it was Sandi Hodel’s team and their perfect record that landed them in top spot and winners of the Ashford Mixed Triples! 2nd place was awarded to Verlie Martin’s team from CP, 3rd was won by Jill Foster’s team and 4th to Jean Morrison’s team.

The tournament was great fun, and it must be noted that the crew at the Burnside Lawn Bowling Club hosted a fun event and the kitchen staff put out an incredible food spread! Such an incredible event!
