Sunny skies greeted the 36 players who came together at the Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club on August 11 and 12. We were treated to two days of marvellous bowling, great competition, and, thankfully, some wonderful weather.

Of course, there can only be one winning team—and this year, the title was very well deserved. After two days of excellent bowling, Dennis V and Michael S of Gordon Head ruled the greens and took the top spot.

Close behind were Kevin N and Randy S of Lake Hill, who finished second. In third place, we had the ever-present Barrie M and his partner, Al T, from Gordon Head.

We also had a very strong showing from our own Doug F and Kory S. Congratulations to all of our top finishers—and, of course, to every one of the 36 players who took part. You all helped make this a terrific tournament.

A tournament like this doesn’t happen without a lot of people working behind the scenes. Our kitchen was expertly run by Judy B and Lauren C, keeping everyone well fed and looked after. Ray and Brian did the rolling, and the greens were in top shape throughout. A special thank-you to John C for all his hard work in getting them ready.

Finally, I’d like to thank my co-manager Brent J, as well as Brent M, for all their help in making the tournament run smoothly.

Thank you all for coming, for the great spirit of competition, and for making the tournament such a success.
