Carnarvon Cup 2026

Carnarvon Cup winds down for the season. The Carnarvon Cup is a season-long men’s pairs played on Tuesday morning. Each morning a pairs draw is made up; bowling starts at 10 am. We play 14 ends for the pairs, although sometimes, if the numbers are not divisible by 4, then the draw can include a triples game and/or a cutthroat game. All male members of the club are invited to play. After the end of the competition, we all gathered on Tuesday 15th September for a friendly 12-end game, then retiring to Carnarvon House for coffee, nibbles and hotdogs. The hotdogs were supplied and served up by Brent Merchant with Garry Anderson helping in the kitchen. Thanks guys for organizing the food; much appreciated. Marian Burow came in and opened the bar for our thirsty bowlers! Thank you, Marian. We then gave out our prizes to all the winners of the bowling competition. We recognized the top three Leads and the top three Skips. Photographs below.

1st Place Skip Brent Merchant

2nd Place Skip Lorne Cowley

3rd Place Skip John Mayston-Taylor

1st Place Lead Raoul Wiart

2nd Place Lead Kory Swain

3rd Place Lead Jerome Foenander & Brian Sandercock (tied)

I would also like to recognize the many players who helped run the Carnarvon Cup. This included the team who rolled the east green before we played, the many helpers who set up the rinks, the helpers who made sure that I didn’t mess up the draw and others who handed out the rink disks and score cards. Thank you all. After 12 seasons of Carnarvon Cup, I’m passing the organizing reins on to Rick Cohen, Jerome Foenander and Brian Sandercock….it is time to move on! Thank you, guys!
