Most members will have been aware that our 42 year-old dishwasher ‘flatlined’ on Friday August 1st for the second time this year. Initial assessment of the state of the system was undertaken by John Dolman and Doug Francis soon after. Their assessment was that a specialist would need to be called in to complete further diagnostics. Resident electrical engineer and specialist ‘surgeon’ Lorne Cowley spent numerous hours checking the circulatory system and other parts before deciding to proceed with a very delicate operation on Friday August 8th. Despite being clinically ‘dead’ for just under one week, Lorne was able to successfully bring the machine ‘back to life’. Doug Francis assisted in the procedure. We are unsure how long the machine will continue to function but it is hoped it will perform its duties through the upcoming BSI Greenslade tournament this week. Discussions will take place to determine if further lifesaving procedures will be undertaken in future or if a replacement machine should be obtained.
