What a difference a day makes!
As we were organizing for the tournament on the Friday we looked out the windows and we could see the pools of water on both greens. All we could say was thank goodness we weren’t playing today.
The lawn bowling gods must have been listening because we woke up on Saturday to sunshine and blue skies. A beautiful day for bowling in late September.
16 teams, 48 players, came out to play in our final tournament of 2026. The format of the tournament was three six end games with a pizza lunch between games two and three. Not only did we have pizza, we had ice cream and amazing goodies that were put out for all to enjoy.
After lunch, we had a spider before the start of the third game. Congratulations to Gloria Brown for winning it. Gloria not only hit the jack, but her bowl carried with the jack and she ended up a fair distance from any other bowl. A clear winner.
We gathered in the clubhouse after the final game and had some draw prizes. Thank you once again to Matt McNeil and his Victoria Pub Company for the generous donation of three draw prizes and to Barry for picking up the million dollar chances.
We also had a 50-50 and David Smyth went home with $105. Congratulations, David.
After the scores were tabulated, we had our first second and third place winners.
In third place was Louise Mason, Bob Austin and Lorraine Paik.
In second place was Lorne Cowley, Portia Priegert and Lenora Hanwell.
And in first place was the team of Brent Merchant, Barb Davidge and Emery Hauser.
Although no prize money was given out in this tournament Barb showed her enthusiasm and excitement for having her name on the trophy.
We acknowledged all of the members who helped out and made the tournament so successful when we gathered for the prizes. That being said, the managers would like to thank everyone once again for making the tournament successful. We’re so lucky to have such enthusiastic members.
We were so happy to have so many new bowlers and we are hoping that everyone will sign up for our tournaments in 2027.
Thanks, Karen, Mary and Tanis.
