The “February Fling” took place on Saturday February 1st. The weather forecast for the day was for rain and cold weather with a chance of some snow. The weather did cooperate as the sun came out during the game but by the end the sun had disappeared and a cold wind began blowing. What the heck happened. To start off our new filing cabinet arrived and I went to the club earlier that day to assemble the item. Robert Game was there to help with this construction project. We seemed to be doing a good job until we started working on the first drawer. It was a bit confusing and even our construction superevisor Mary Magill was a bit flummexed over the issue. Soon Garry Anderson and Doug Francis arrived and began trying to put the drawer together. After a number of attempts these construction experts were able to build the three drawers. Lorne and Beth then adjusted the cabinet so that the lock would lock the three drawers and the project was completed – modesty prohibits me from confessing how many hours and how many people it took to build this item. By the time we finished there were 12 people playing short mat. 8 engaged in lawn bowling and 4 playing croquet. We had a number of members spectating from the warmth of Carnarvon House. Following the games we retired to Carnarvon House where Marian was kind enough to be the bartender. It was good that everyone had fun and enjoyed the afternoon. Our next event will be in March so we hope folks will volunteer some time in getting the event off the ground.
