We are deeply saddened to announce that John Rumble passed away on August 13th.
John was a much-loved member of our club. He and his wife, Heather, joined the Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club in 2023, and in the short time since, John became a familiar and valued part of our club community.
John loved the club and especially enjoyed the friendships and connections he made with so many of our members. He had a wonderful sense of humour, a warm personality, and a way of making those around him feel welcome. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
John was also an inspiration to many of us. Despite being visually impaired, he took up lawn bowling and embraced the challenge wholeheartedly. When he changed to bowling with his opposite hand, he simply adapted, practised and carried on. His determination was remarkable and reminded us all that with perseverance and a positive attitude, we can accomplish far more than we may think possible.
An update will be provided when arrangements are made for a gathering at the club to remember and honour John’s life.
Our thoughts and condolences are with Heather, John’s family, and all those who knew and loved him.
