Sunday saw the completion of the club singles season at Oak Bay with
some exciting action that the small group of spectators found very compelling. Prior to Sunday the Novice Women’s Division was finalized with Lorraine Paik emerging the champ and she will represent Oak Bay at the BSI Novice Women’s Singles at Central Saanich on August 29th and 30th.
On Sunday the other three divisions were completed. These were the
Novice Men’s, Intermediate Women’s and Intermediate Men’s.
In the Novice Men’s four players met in semi–finals with Brent Kaufman and Denis Chevrier winning very close games to advance to meet in the final. The final was again very close with Brent scoring three in the final end to prevail 15–14. Brent will represent Oak Bay on September 12th and 13th at Vic West.
In the Intermediate Men’s, Jerome Foenander won the one day round–robin format with convincing wins over his peers.
In the Intermediate Women’s division there was a round robin over the previous several weeks that narrowed the five entrants down the top two for a final on Sunday. This final was incredibly exciting and well played as Carole Poirier and Charlotte Lauzon battled to a 14–14 score and a final winner take all end. In this final frame Charlotte came out on top to take the title.
