The Quaddie is Back and the Standings Were Tight!

Labour Day saw the return of the Quaddie to the Oak Bay Club. Last included on the club schedule back in 2022, a Quaddie has a team of four play a pair of pairs games in round one, a singles and triples game in round two and then come together for a fours game to finish off the tournament. This means each team is involved in five matches altogether and each player plays three different types of games in the same day.

Forty bowlers (ten teams) signed up for the event and after the first four rounds of play there were five teams with 3-1 records. Incredibly all five of these teams lost their final match to teams with lesser records and after the final game was done we had six teams tied with 3-2 records.

Winning the title on the tiebreaker was the team of Ian Capon, Brian Sandercock, Sandy Armitage and Lorraine and Doug Paik. Second place went to Brent Merchant, Jean Morrison, Malca Casiro, and Bob Austin. The final podium team in third spot was Louise Mason, Lorne Cowley, Donna Stewart and Mel Macaro.

If you didn’t sign-up for this fun format this year then think about it for next year as it is sure to be back in 2027.
