Oak Bay’s penultimate bowling tournament of the season took place on Labour Day with the aptly named Labour Day Triples.
A strong field of 14 teams participated, with position-sharing bringing the total number of members on the greens to 47. The format consisted of three 10-end games. Heading into the third and final round, three teams remained undefeated. By day’s end, only one held onto a perfect record. The team of Chris Slade, Beth Christopher, and Bev Zary emerged as the 2025 Labour Day Triples champions.
Second place went to the team co-skipped by Marcia Thorneycroft and Barry Hersh, alongside teammates Kory Swain and Jerome Foenander. In third place was the team of Joan Firkins, Ian & Diane McMorran (sharing), with Gordie Hawkins leading.
It was especially encouraging to see two of this year’s new members—Bev and Jerome —earn podium finishes in their first Labour Day Triples.
