We had a great day introducing newbies to the joy of lawn bowling. The club hosted 40 women belonging to three different clubs – the Victoria Evening Newcomers, the Victoria Womens’ Newcomers Club and the Greater Victoria Women’s Newcomers. We had planned for 24 newcomers but the overwhelming interest from them and the large number of OB club members who stepped forward to help, allowed us to increase attendance to 40. Deb Austin and Karin Buss facilitated the visit from their respective newcomers’ clubs.
The newcomers were an absolute delight to host and they loved the event. We hope to see some of them return to the club for our upcoming Open Houses and eventually become members of our club!
Congratulations to our club volunteers – more than 16 of you graciously helped coach, organize, bake, serve and clean-up: you were fantastic ambassadors for our club!
And a big thank you to Donna Blackstock for organizing and leading the visit with such enthusiasm.
