August 10 and 11th held at the Gordon head lawn bowling club the South Island Open Singles was held. 32 single players entered this growing tournament. A very Interesting format. The first player to seven ends wins the game with a potential of playing up to 13 ends in total for one game.

The final playoff game for first place was between Brent Jansen and Bobbi Jean Charlton. The final outcome was 7 to 5 for Bobbi Jean winning the tournament Brent coming in a close second in the A flight. Gopala Gowda in C flight was runner up. A very good tournament, fun for everyone and extremely challenging with some of the best players on the island bowling.
