On Friday,a well-known member of the Australian bowling community visited our club. She is none other than Chrissy Pavlov from the infamous Broadbeach Bowls Club (Gold Coast) where she is a Board member. Chrissy has had won Australian titles over the years, is the Queensland Open Ladies’ State Manager, a State Selector, and also a State Junior Selection Coordinator.
Mary Forster met Chrissy over her years of bowling in the Gold Coast and the Australian Open. When she learned that Chrissy and her partner, Dennis, were in Vancouver, she quickly invited them over for a whirlwind visit. And here they are! Chrissy has now experienced bowling on a slow green (around 11 seconds) … and got a toucher after several ends!Chrissy and Mary have one thing in common. They both attended kindergarten in Singapore, but not at the same time!It must be a week of special visitors. Earlier in the week, two brothers from Glasgow, Scotland, visited our club for a roll-up. David and Jim Hannah are brothers of Mary’s neighbour. David only started lawn bowling at the Ralston Bowling Club (Paisley, Scotland) in May. He was over the moon for the opportunity to bowl in Canada. David is now addicted to this wonderful sport and will be coming back soon. Jim, instead of hitting the link, you may want to try and use a Bowling Arm and give your brother some competition!Mary has always been well looked after everywhere she bowled around world. The splendour of the lawn bowling fraternity is beyond words. It is great to reciprocate the warm welcome she has always been given.Enjoy your Alaskan Adventure Cruise from Juneau, Chrissy and Dennis. To David, keep practicing; and to Jim, you got to be inspired by now!By Mary Forster
