The Findlay Memorial Mixed Triples took place at the Vic West Lawn Bowling Club during the evenings of July 5, 6 and 7.
This was an open tournament which meant that teams could be formed from any BSI bowling club. The one stipulation was that one of the team members had to be a novice – someone who had joined a bowling club between July 4, 2019 and July 5th , 2022.
Members from our Oak Bay Club included Brent Jansen (Skip), Karen Evans (Vice) and Ray Dilba (Lead and the team’s novice).
Brent Merchant skipped another team with Harry Walker as Vice from the Canadian Pacific Club and Joanne MacNeil as the team’s novice and Lead from Juan de Fuca club.
The weather was a bit cool, but with only one game per night it was quite tolerable – especially for Harry Walker who won the 50/50 draw.
The results are shown in the attached pictures, but for Oak Bay the Merchant rink won 4th in the “A” event and the Jansen rink won the “C” event.
The “A” event winner was the Dennis Verge rink from GHLBC; the “A” event runner up went to Linda Robbins of Lake Hill LBC; the “A” event third place was held by the Chris Dodd rink of LHLBC.
In the “B” event the Sue Ennis rink of Lake Hill was the runner up with the Barry Ming team of Gordon Head winning that event.
David Gardner of GHLBC captured the “C” event runner up positions.
All of these teams shared in the prize money.
Thanks to all of the folks at Vic West who volunteered their time to make this a very enjoyable tournament. Hats off to all of them – well done.
