Hi all,

I hope you and your families are all well, and remaining safe and vigilant during this time of social distancing and self isolation.  This is a difficult time for all of us, as the covid-19 pandemic has created stress and uncertainty in our lives.   We are sad not to be getting ready for our annual Open House, for the fun of Opening Day, and meeting up again with our bowling friends, but hopefully this will all happen later in the summer.

We thought it might be fun to have some Club members share their stories of how they have been filling their time at home, and any interesting, innovative and creative things that they have been doing to fill their days.  It doesn’t have to be anything too outstanding, unusual or different, just something they would like to share.  Keep us informed on what you are doing and support your fellow cub members.

I’ll give a couple of examples.  Last Saturday evening I participated in a virtual ‘Happy Hour” with some friends and fellow bowlers; and like many of you I am watching a lot of Netflix.  I am currently watching a series called “Wanted.”  It starts out in Australia, and then the second season moves to Queenstown, New Zealand.  It is quite a good story, and the scenery is beautiful; but for me it brought back many memories of the time I spent in Queenstown in 2014 while on the Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club trip to New Zealand, organized by Don Clark.  I think people who were part of that trip might enjoy watching this series.  I even saw the hotel we stayed in in one of the shots!
