The BSI Dogwood Mixed Pairs tournament played at Lake Hill Lawn Bowling Club July 11-14 consisted of four evenings of play for 14 teams from various clubs.
There were two 10-end games on each of the first three nights.
On the fourth and final night, there was one 10-end game followed by two three-end games among the top four teams to decide the final placings and the trophy winner.
It came down to two Oak Bay teams, Brent Merchant and Lee Miller playing Brent Jansen and Karen Evans for first and second place.
Team Merchant won one end and Team Jansen won one end and then . . .
thanks to Karen Evans throwing a beautifully drawn bowl into the head in the final end that took shot, Karen and Brent Jansen won the tournament; Lee and Brent Merchant coming in second place.
Thanks to the organizers, kitchen staff and umpires at Lake Hill for well-run tournament. Food was fantastic.
