Juan de Fuca hosts a Friday Morning Men’s League (FMML) every year. This year the duration was 18 weeks, with 26 triples teams competing from 9 different clubs. At the conclusion of the season, money is awarded to the top 10 teams.
The FFML exists to bring out new and experienced members to have a fun (yet competitive) game of lawn bowling and meet players from all the different clubs in the Bowls South Island (BSI) district. Without a doubt, it showcases the best male bowlers in BSI.
In 2024, our Oak Bay Club fielded four teams. Brent Jansen’s team shared fourth place with a Gordon Head team. Our triples team (with substitutes) consisted of Lorne Cowley, David Anderson, Ray Dilba, Gopal Gowda, Mort Nelson and Brent Jansen. The team won 13 games out of 18.
Our team won a total of $157.50 which we will be donating to the Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club. FYI, we finished 5th last year and donated $138 to the club.
A team from CP took the trophy and top prize money, while two Gordon Head teams placed 2nd and 3rd.
