It was with much trepidation that this extremely recent 80-year-old signed up for this tournament at Canadian Pacific Lawn Bowling and Croquet Club
As you know, it’s never been easy for a woman to reveal her age. However, Don Clark, Harnam Grewal and myself had a great day and ended up surprising ourselves by winning the trophy.
It was wonderful to meet up with old friends from the other clubs, whom we have not seen since before COVID.
There were three Oak Bay teams playing out of sixteen, plus Kay Alexander who entered with a friend from another Club. Poor Kay had a fall just before the commencement which upset us all, but she was taken to the hospital and I understand underwent some stitches to her head. We wish her a speedy recovery.
The event was sponsored by Tapestry, a brand new Seniors Independent Living Facility situated close by, who also provided a barbecue lunch on their new rooftop dining area. We three have made a pact to team up again next year all being well!
