Bowl for the cure sept 23/24
This tournament was organized many years ago by Harry Harrison from the Juan de Fuca lawn bowling club to raise money solely for the purpose to support the Canadian cancer society. Over 20 years they have raised and donated approximately $100,000 for the Canadian cancer society. We all have lost or known someone that has had cancer. Thank You Harry and all. This tournament was a quaddie two day event, which needs a minimum of two men and two women. Up to as many players as you like. Total of 10 games amongst 32 teams being played on four Lawnbowling greens. No prize money is given as all proceeds go to the Canadian cancer society.
Trophy this year was won by Layla Godfrey, Ray Dilba, Karen Evans, Donna Blackstock, and skip Brent Jansen. Our Oak Bay team was the only team that went through with 10 wins and zero losses. Unknown bystander stood in for Layla in the picture below as she was unavailable.
We would like to thank, Harry Harrison, Jack Robertson, Julie Dickinson, Gary Paugh, all tournament organizers, kitchen help and volunteers to put this fabulous end-of-the-year tournament on.
