Gopala Wins Findlay Trophy
The Victoria Lawn Bowling Club hosted the Peace Findlay Men’s Singles Tournament May 27-28 after a three-year interruption due to COVID and greens rehabilitation. This unique tournament awards three trophies in one event – the Peace Cup, the Findlay Trophy and the Coast Capital Shield.
As an historical note, the Peace Cup dates back to 1919 and the Findlay Trophy dates back to 1968.
After the first round of play (three games each), bowlers (depending on the results) are assigned to three different streams – A-stream, B-stream and C-stream.
This popular event, the only Men’s singles in the BSI itinerary, attracted 24 bowlers. The preliminary rounds were played on Saturday May 27 and the playoffs Semi-Finals and Finals were played on Sunday May 28.
Our Club member Gopala Gowda won the B-Division and the Findlay Trophy
The A-Division and the Peace Cup was won by Auzzie Chambers of JDF LBC
The C-Division and the Coast Capital Shield was won by Gord Folka from CPLBC
Note: Don Clark of Oak Bay was the previous winner of the C- Division and the Coast Capital Shield in 2019.
