Canada Day/CHAMP Tournament

The Canada Day Tournament is right around the corner and its focus is to raise funds to assist children through CHAMP – Child Amputee Program. As members you have raised more money than any other bowling club in Canada and that’s something to be proud of. Given the popularity of this tournament we have raised over $20,000. Why is it so popular you might ask? Because we help young children who, unfortunately, experience an amputation. Our tournament helps to address the trauma they experience with mechanical solutions to their amputations. This tournament is about raising funds in a fun way. To start we have been fortunate that the owner of the Pharmasave on Oak Bay Ave, Tony Tucker, has donated $500 towards our fundraising. We have never had a business donation like this so if you happen to be in our local Pharmasave on Oak Bay Ave please pass on your thanks to one of the staff members – Tony’s donation is greatly appreciated. Now how can you help? Register to play and that’s the important part.  Your entry fee is a donation that goes to CHAMP. We sell “wrong bias insurance” with the funds going to CHAMP. If you throw a bowl with the wrong bias you can use one of your tickets to take the bowl back and try another shot. At the end of the day you can enter your remaining “wrong bias tickets” for a prize draw. If you buy 50/50 tickets half of the money collected will go to CHAMP and half you can put in your pocket. Did I mention what a “Spider” is, no it’s not my one and only phobia. It’s a fun way to win a prize with one bowl being delivered at the same time as all the other participants. Bring lunch, a few dollars and help us help kids. There will be a pot, not the smoking type, if you wish to make a personal donation as well. For those that would like to make a donation but can’t attend the tournament you can do so via an e-transfer just like you did to pay your yearly dues . Any amount you can contribute will help these kids and you’ll see why if you watch the short video that is attached below.

No skill level is needed – it’s just a fun day, and it will be over in time so you can still attend many of the Canada Day celebrations and fireworks taking place in Victoria later in the afternoon or in the evening. So please register – and won’t it be grand to meet new friends on Canada Day.
