The wind-up to the Carnarvon cup (men’s pairs) took place on a brilliant summers day, August 27th. The cup this year was memorable with the closeness of the competition; for the skip’s segment there were no fewer than 10 players within 8 points of the lead. Ron Harmer was unfortunately absent as he was overtaken by Al Neumair by one point with Ray Troyer close behind Ron by two points. The leads competition was equally close with Gerry Emery being overtaken by Peter Insley on the last day with Robert Game coming in tied for second place with all three players one point apart.
The players gathered in Carnarvon House for coffee (thanks Garry for the coffee) and presentations. An end to a memorable year of men’s pairs bowling, a big thank you to all the players. The average attendance was over 32 players.
Ron Harmer, who placed 2nd skip, was away on vacation.
