Melissa Lyon had a rigorous three-hour practical assessment recently and emerged successful earning a Black Belt in karate. It is the highest ranking in the sport that she has been dedicated to for ten years. This is an incredible accomplishment for someone born with both cerebral palsy and epilepsy who doctors said would never walk and who would be mentally disabled. Her tenacious spirit has stood her well in all ventures; with her new lawn bowls she is perfecting her short mat game!! Outside of her athletic pursuits Melissa is an accomplished educator with a Masters degree in Special Education who has her own busy consultancy business. Congratulations Melissa!
