Oak Bay Bowling Club entered a team for the First Annual Sidney Short Mat tournament. While Harnam, Brent and myself were the only Oak Bay team, there were other Oak Bay Social members playing for other clubs. Svend and June Klausen with Dennis Verge were playing under the Gordon Head stripes. Steve and Jill Foster were playing for the Juan de Fuca Bowling club.

The Oak Bay Team had an up and down weekend. The Sidney mats are very challenging; quick with some interesting twists and turns! All the mats were different. Our first day had it’s moments, the first game we should have won, but ran out of time! One down. The second game we won, but probably shouldn’t have! We won’t talk about the third game! However we re-grouped on Sunday, I borrowed a straight set of bowls, and we all played well. Won the two Sunday games and finished winning the C section. We’ll be better prepared for next year!
