The final major outdoor competition of the season took place on Monday, 2 September. Our Labour Day Quaddie was once again fully subscribed and an unqualified success.
For website visitors unfamiliar with a Quaddie, it is a competition which consists of a team of four players. During the first game the team breaks into two teams of pairs to play other teams. For the second game the team will play as a triples team while the fourth member competes in a singles game. In the final game of the Quaddie all four members come together to play a fours game with each player bowling two bowls.
The weather for our Quaddie was ideal, perhaps a bit too warm as can be seen in one photo where a member became closely acquainted with bushes to seek relief from the hot sun. Two others used the more traditional approach of holding an umbrella over their head.
Competitions which are followed by a meal can only be successful when a large number of members are willing to freely give of their time and labour. An incredible amount of planning and work goes into an event like this and without the volunteer spirit we have at our club these events would not become the memorable affairs they are. A huge thank you to all who helped in whatever capacity.
