The 2023 McEwan Cup
Last Tuesday, July 18th, instead of playing our usual Tuesday men’s league, the club members gathered to play the McEwan Cup which is a Men’s Pairs tournament. The McEwan Cup is open to all male club members. We welcomed Kory Swain to the tournament. Kory is a new member for this year. He played with Ian McMorran and played very well.
The weather was great; sunny, warm but not too hot. We played three 8-end games, two before lunch and one after lunch. Stu Fraser and Garry Anderson were the only team to win all three games, so were the winners of the McEwan Cup. Brent Merchant and Doug Francis were in second place with David Anderson and Ian Capon placing third.
As always behind the scenes there were a lot of helpers.
Garry Anderson and Faith Magwood did a great job in the kitchen with the Tea/Coffee and nibbles.
Ian McMorran took care of the bar making sure we were all hydrated!
Chris Slade and Gopala Gowda provided technical support for registration and the scoring spreadsheet
Barrie Bolton took care of the money and helped me with the scoring
And we must not forget Gloria Brown who took the photos
Ian McMorran was busy in the morning rolling the green providing an excellent playing surface.
