The Oak Bay team of Brent Merchant (skip), Henriette Ballinger, Susi Merchant and Eric Ballinger finished second at the McPherson Mixed Fours tournament at Qualicum Beach over the Mother’s Day weekend.  Twenty two teams entered including a team skipped by David Gardner (Gordon Head), Janet Gardner, and Jeff & Margaret Machan from Oak Bay.  The Gardner team enjoyed less success but nevertheless took home prize money for having won the consolation game.  Janet won a draw for a large hamper and Margaret a bottle of wine to add to their loot.  The weather was superb and the host club put on an excellent tournament.  Everyone enjoyed the opportunity to compete in an early season tournament at one of the most picturesque locations in the North Zone.
