This News bulletin repeats the text of the All Members e-mail of June 8, 2021.
TO ALL CLUB MEMBERS
This note will outline progress in our outdoor activities planned for the latter part of June, when capacity will expand and personal practice time will be available. More types of activities are envisaged for July and future months.
Further Expansion of Playing Opportunities
As the pandemic recedes, we will be continuing with our step-by-step plan to gradually open up the club for more activities.
The number of players allowed at the club increases from 24 to 32, effective June 13. The activity schedule will remain at the same times as at present, with two opportunities to bowl every day and six croquet times per week.
The updated schedule shows an increase in game capacity as follows (B=bowling, C= Croquet. The number is the maximum number of players.)

With the increased capacity, there are now no restrictions on the number of bowls games or croquet games a member can book in a week. Remember that all your bookings are commitments unless you withdraw before 7:00 p.m. the evening before the game.
You will be able to book the new schedule as of 9:00 a.m. Friday June 11.
Until the end of June, bowls groundsheets are required on the East green and mats on the West green; scoreboards and rakes are optional. We will continue to maintain a one-rink separation between bowling rinks and retain the practice of wearing face masks until players are on the greens. No spectators, or visitors from other clubs, are yet allowed.
Re-introduction of Personal Practice Times
Effective June 13, personal practice time will be available whenever there are vacant time slots on the Draws calendar, i.e., when there are no scheduled bowling/croquet activities, or greens maintenance.
You will not have to pre-register for practice, but you must file the usual signed and dated Single-Day Screening Questionnaire every time you visit the club.
Looking Ahead
By the beginning of July, nearly all of our members will have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and the majority of those will have had their second shot. This additional protection means that we can consider further activities in July and the months following, namely:
- Club tournaments, the first of which will likely be a one-day pairs tournament, planned for the second weekend in July.
- Separate weekly men’s and women’s sessions similar to the Carnarvon Cup and Campbell Cup events, last held in the 2019 season. The formats have yet to be determined, but we do know that the men’s session will take place Monday mornings and the women’s session will be Monday afternoons.
- A Mixed Competitive Bowling League for players who enjoy the competitive aspect of the game. Details are not yet available; your input welcomed.
As yet, no social activities are allowed at the club and members are still requested to depart immediately after play, perhaps for post-game reviews at recently reopened local coffee shops and restaurants who are “hungry” (and thirsty) for your business!
