TO ALL CLUB MEMBERS

To meet increasing demand, we will be introducing a new bowling and croquet schedule May 30, which will use both greens and increase the number of players to 24 at the club at one time instead of the current 16.

New Expanded Schedule

Our new schedule will increase the number of bowling opportunities from 192 to 244 per week. Bowlers will have two opportunities to play every day. Bowling will use both greens.

The number of opportunities for croquet will increase from 64 per week to 92, by allowing croquet play on four days a week instead of the current Tuesdays and Sundays only. All croquet will be on the West Green.

Our test of a small Friday night gathering for both sports May 21 and 28, filled up in a flash, so it is likely to be a fixture over the rest of the summer, always provided we have enough safety monitors.

The new schedule is as follows (B=bowling, C= Croquet. The number is the maximum number of players.):

We will be testing the demand for this new schedule for two weeks, then we will re-evaluate.

As of May 30, we will be switching from groundsheets on every rink to groundsheets only on the East Green and regular bowls mats on the West Green. Members are asked to position the mats well out from the ditch since the most wear on the greens is around the edges. The use of scoreboards will be optional.

Booking System Change

There will be a change in our RSVP booking system from May 30. In future, you will simply sign up for “Bowling” or “Croquet” in each time slot. The drawmasters will sort out roles and teams.

Please restrict your advance bookings to no more than four times per week, with no more than three of either game. Not counted in your restricted total of four games per week are:

• bookings after 4:00 p.m. the day before the game;
• Friday evening games;
• on-duty safety monitor assistants who have booked to play that day.

You can make bookings under the new games schedule after
9:00 a.m. Friday May 28.

When the new system comes online Friday morning, the previous reservations may become unstable, or even disappear. Please make a note of any reservation you have made for May 28 and May 29. Call your drawmaster if your registration no longer appears on the list of players. (Every time slot on the on-line calendar has a link to the Drawmaster List.)
