Each year we host our New Year’s Day Lawn Bowling & Croquet Extravaganza – running into the ocean is not part of this event. This popular event takes place in rain, snow, fog, sunshine, wind, or any other weather condition that might come our way. Let’s kick off the New Year with a bit of fun and a short game of lawn bowling/croquet. It’s a great opportunity to wish members the best in the New Year. If you have never come out for this event, what can you expect other than a barrel of fun and a creative way to kick off the New Year:
Date: January 1, 2024
Time: 1:00pm tags need to be in and the games start at 1:15
Format: Determined by the number of members that come out – spectators
are welcome.
Ends: Usually we play 6 ,8 or 10 ends subject to weather conditions
Dress: I just might wear shorts for a change but any festive attire is fine
BBQ: Following the game we will gather in Carnarvon House for a BBQ and social time.
For $5 you can get a BBQ ’ed smokie /veggie dog, chips and a pop. If you want a bar drink you can get one for a $1 reduction in lieu of a pop.
The bar will be open and there will be coffee and tea available.
50/50: A 50/50 will be held with tickets costing $5 for 3 tickets and $10 for 10 tickets.
Registration: There is no need to register for this event.
We are sure that many members will brave the elements and play a few ends of lawn bowling./croquet If you just want to watch those silly people out on the greens on January 1st you are more than welcome to cheer them on from the comfort of Carnarvon House. . Bowlers always like spectators to cheer them on so come join the fun. All we ask is that players arrive by 1:00 so that we can do the draw and start the games by 1:15. Spectators can arrive anytime. If you have family/guests visiting, feel free to bring them along- they can play or watch.
CANASTA: Canasta will be played on this day. Make sure to touch base
with your canasta players so they come out for the first game of 2024.
OUR HOPE: To see a host of people joining us.
