Opening Day for Oak Bay Bowling Club April 30th 2016
The 2016 bowling season started with the Opening Day on April 30th 2016. With some 80 plus bowlers in attendance the greens were full! In addition to our regular club members, a number of 2016 intake of new bowlers participated in the afternoon of bowling. Well done everybody for coming out and making a memorable start to the season. The weather was fully co-operative with the temperature hovering around the 20c mark, with a cloudless sky.
As is customary for our opening day, Oak Bay Municipality and the Provincial Government sent representatives to give the afternoon a lift off! Councillor Hazel Braithwaite from Oak Bay and Andrew Weaver MLA for Oak Bay Gordon Head both said a few words on behalf of their organizations.
Peter Insley introduced the guests and then presented a Life Time Membership award to Harnam Grewal for all the work and leadership that he has given Oak Bay Bowling Club over many years.
Following the singing of the National Anthem, the bowlers settled down to an afternoon of bowling. Our guests played with Peter Insley and other club members. I do not know the outcome game but I’m sure everyone had a good time.
Thanks to members who manned the kitchen to provide half time goodies, tea and coffee.
