It won’t be long before we’re into another season of short mat bowling at our club. Some information has already been provided by President Brent Merchant in his 31 August email but additional details will be published on the club website as they become available.

It seems only yesterday that our Fabulous Five – David Anderson, Andrew Harley, Brent Jansen, Mitch O’Brien, and Chris Slade journeyed to Strömstad, Sweden to represent Canada as part of the Canadian team at the World Short Mat Bowls Championships held 16-18 April, 2018.

This year’s Canadian National Championships will be held in Cobourg, Ontario, 18-23 November, 2019. The World Championships, held every two years, will next take place in Herentals, Belgium, 20-22 March, 2020.

While we all can’t play at the world level, it’s nice to recall what it must have been like for our club members who put Oak Bay LBC on the world map. For a reminder of those days click here.
