On Friday, October 25, the largest turn out of members to play croquet and lawn bowling under our new lights took place under a cover of darkness and with chilly conditions. The new lights cut through the darkness and a good time was had by all. Thank you to Michael Perry, who rolled the greens before the games. The evening began with Doug Francis and Brent Merchant manning the BBQ which was funded individually by your Executive Committee members. There were a total of 67 smokies served along with fried onions, sauerkraut and assorted “fixings”. After the BBQ the East green was packed with bowlers and croquet players. Many stayed out for a considerable amount of time given the chilly weather. Joan Firkins managed the bar and was kept rather busy during the BBQ and after the games. We hope that next year people will volunteer to organize regular evening games after seeing how the new lights work. It is fun playing at night!
