The first snowbirds from Victoria have arrived in Sun City, Arizona and are preparing their nests for the coming winter.
Jeff & Marg Machan hosted a soiree at their home on October 22, attended by the small group of friends shown in two photos. They are (left to right) Henriette Ballinger, Pat Purvis (home club Victoria West LBC), Joyce Herber, and Marg Machan. The photo of the guys shows a happy Joe Herber, Jeff Machan, John Purvis, and Eric Ballinger. The Herbers, from Oregon, were the token Yank guests.
Other photos are from earlier in the year. One shows Eric’s “lime fizz” bowls. While it can be hot in Arizona the bowls are not actually melting. Another photo shows Marg studying the head at one of the many natural grass clubs. On a carpet green Jeff and Marg (in yellow) decide on the shot to play, while in another Jeff demonstrates the delivery that helped him win tournaments on both sides of the 49th parallel. The final photos show some lawn bowls monkey business.
