The hour draws near

2018 Short Mat Bowls World Championships – Strömstad, Sweden

As Andrew Harley wrote in his message to members, four of our five team members will leave tomorrow (March 11) for Sweden, with one, Brent Jansen having already left to first visit relatives in Denmark. Or was he really leaving early as part of a secret Team Canada reconnaissance team? 🙂 The competition will be under way in a little under a week.

We wish them every success and look forward to following Andrew’s day-by-day summary of events. Unfortunately obtaining detailed information on the competition has been something of a challenge. Nevertheless what is known at this time is as follows:

Thursday March 15
7:45 pm – World Bowls AGM

Friday March 16
8:00 am – Team photos
8:45 am – Teams march on and opening ceremony
9:30 am – Competition starts

Saturday March 17
8:30 am – Play resumes

Sunday March 18
8:30 am – Play resumes
1:45 pm – Semi-finals begin
3:45 pm – Finals and 3rd and 4th playoffs begin
5:00 pm – Presentations to winners
