Our outdoor bowling season is about to start and it’s almost a month earlier than we have in the past. With that in mind our greens are still “soft” and can be easily damaged by bowls that are dropped from any height. To minimize any damage all bowlers must use the green rink protection mats when playing, coaching or practising – no exceptions. Make sure you place the bowling mat at the end of the rink protection mat to ensure the turf is protected from the impact of the bowls. If your bowl is released in the air and comes down on the green but not on the rink protection mat you must use two rink protection mats to protect the greens. This issue will be reviewed again ion May. Our greens are our most important attributes and must be treated with care and respect.
