Victoria Day 2019 was a soggy day but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of those who participated. A good part of the day’s celebration took place indoors where members enjoyed a delicious meal of chilli, salad, and corn bread, followed by dessert. As with all these events, numerous members contributed hours of work in many areas before, during, and after to ensure the day was a success. And a memorable day it was.
In addition to prizes for those who displayed talent on the green, others won draw prizes; one prize consisted of spray chalk for successfully completing a quiz about Queen Victoria. In the age of instant Googling some questioned the legitimacy of this table’s win. But these presumed miscreants quickly left before they could be subpoenaed to testify about how they knew all the answers. Rumour has it that a nearby table used search engines for every question yet still managed to come up with at least one wrong answer!
President Brent Merchant held a draw for two bottles of wine which had earlier been donated by Carlton House when they provided a lunch for members attending the Thursday Special Draw on May 16. Eligibility for this wine draw was restricted to those who were unable to attend our Thursday Special Draw last week.
This completes our first major club tournament of the year but there is much bowling still to come.
