Canadian team at Opening Ceremonies of World Junior Championships L to R: Pricilla Westlake, Stirling Wood, Jaymee Sidel, Cameron Lefresne, Grant Wilkie

Update April 15, 2016

The Australians took the majority of the medals and there were some excellent bowls rolled by all players that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats.

Friendships made and talk about when they will see each other next year.

Our U25 team made Canada proud by being good ambassadors for their country and for the sport of bowls.

Homeward bound tomorrow!

Update April 13, 2016

Shelley Sidel reporting from 2016 World Bowls Junior Championships in Queensland

Round robin play is complete, unfortunately no Canadian teams are in the finals.

Overall team results:

  • Women’s singles: Pricilla 11th, Stirling 13th, Jaymee 16th
  • Men’s singles: Cameron 17th, Grant 18th
  • Mixed pairs: Jaymee/Scott 13th, Grant / Pricilla 16th, Cameron / Stirling 17th

This has been a great learning experience for all of them and new friendships have evolved.

The team received numerous compliments from coaches, managers and officials on their ability to come back, adjusting to the condtions, their camaraderie and sportsmanship.

Weather permitting, they will have a training session with Lachlan Tighe later today to assist them in future competitions.

We are homeward bound on the 16th. See you at the Open House!

Each player received a copy of his new book “Winning Becomes You”.
